ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the role of myocardial work parameters in early identification of myocardial injury in neonatal asphyxia.Methods:From July 2020 to December 2021, neonates diagnosed with mild neonatal asphyxia admitted to the Department of Neonatology of our hospital within 24 h after birth were prospectively enrolled into the asphyxia group. Neonates without asphyxia during the same period were selected as the control group and matched with the asphyxia group for gender, gestational age and birth weight at a ratio of 1:1~1:2. The asphyxia group was subgrouped into preterm asphyxia group and term asphyxia group. All neonates received echocardiography within 24 h after birth. Multiple parameters were measured including M-mode, two-dimensional image, Doppler image, global longitudinal strain (GLS) and myocardial work parameters [global work index (GWI), global constructive work (GCW), global wasted work (GWW), global work efficiency (GWE)]. The level of serum N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was recorded in the asphyxia group. The data were compared between the asphyxia group and the control group. Correlations between myocardial work parameters and other parameters were analyzed.Results:A total of 33 cases were in the asphyxia group and 43 cases were in the control group. The preterm asphyxia group (18 cases) showed significantly lower GWI and GCW than the preterm control group (18 cases) [GWI: (702±153) mmHg vs. (879±205) mmHg, GCW: (1 016±221) mmHg vs. (1 200±271) mmHg] ( P<0.05). No differences existed in GLS, GWW and GWE. The term asphyxia group (15 cases) showed significantly lower GWW than the term control group (25 cases) [45.0 (30.0, 65.0) mmHg vs. 71.0 (35.5,85.5) mmHg] ( P<0.05). No differences existed in GLS, GWI, GCW and GWE. GWI was negatively correlated with serum NT-proBNP level ( r=-0.327, P<0.05). Conclusions:GWI and GCW may indicate myocardial injury in preterm neonates with mild asphyxia.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the clinical value of Rotarex ? S in debulking the femoropopliteal calcified lesion. Methods:The data of 5 patients with femoropopliteal calcified lesions treated with Rotarex ? S combined with drug balloon treatment admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from March 2020 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The success rate and complications of all operations were recorded. CT software was used to compare the effective lumen area of the target lesion area before and after surgery in all cases, and the ischemic grade of the affected limb before and after surgery was recorded in all patients. Results:All 5 femoropopliteal calcified lesions were successfully treated with Rotarex ? S debulking followed with drug-coated balloon angioplasty without flow-limited dissections, vascular perforation and distal embolizations, with a success rate of 100%. The effective lumen area for calcified lesions were increased 9-15.11 mm 2 (median: 13 mm 2). The Rutherford classifications were improved from R 2-4 to R 1-2. Conclusions:Femoropopliteal calcified lesion debulking with Rotarex ? S was safe and effective.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To evaluate myocardial injury in neonates born to pregnant women with pregnancy complicated by severe preeclampsia by myocardial work indices.@*METHODS@#A prospective cohort study was performed on 25 preterm infants born to the pregnant women with severe preeclampsia from June 2020 to April 2021 (severe preeclampsia group), and 25 preterm infants born to the pregnant women without severe complications in pregnancy were enrolled as the control group. Echocardiography was performed within 24 hours and at 48-72 hours and 14-28 days after birth to measure conventional parameters. Two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography was performed to construct a noninvasive left ventricular pressure-strain loop based on two-dimensional myocardial strain and left ventricular systolic pressure noninvasively measured, so as to calculate myocardial work indices.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the control group, the severe preeclampsia group had significant reductions in left ventricular global work index and global constructive work within 24 hours after birth (P<0.05), a significant reduction in left ventricular global work efficiency and a significant increase in global waste work at 48-72 hours after birth (P<0.05), and a significant reduction in left ventricular global work efficiency at 14-28 days after birth (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Subclinical myocardial injury persists in the neonatal period in preterm infants born to pregnant women with severe preeclampsia.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of Enterococcus faecium QH06 on TNBS-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) in rats and explore the mechanisms in light of intestinal flora and intestinal immunity.@*METHODS@#Thirty-six male Wistar rats were randomized equally into control group, UC model group, and E.faecium QH06 intervention group. The rats in the latter two groups were subjected to colonic enema with 5% TNBS/ethanol to induce UC, followed by treatment with intragastric administration of distilled water or E.faecium QH06 at the dose of 0.21 g/kg. After 14 days of treatment, the rats were examined for colon pathologies with HE staining. The mRNA and protein expression levels of IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, and IFN-γ in the colon tissues were detected using RT-qPCR and ELISA, and the expression of TLR2 protein was detected with immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Illumina Miseq platform was used for sequencing analysis of the intestinal flora of the rats with bioinformatics analysis. The correlations of the parameters of the intestinal flora with the expression levels of TLR2 and cytokines were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#The rats with TNBS- induced UC showed obvious weight loss (P < 0.01) and severe colon tissue injury with high pathological scores (P < 0.01). The protein expression levels of IFN-γ, IL-12, and TLR2 (P < 0.01) and the mRNA expression levels of IFN-γ, IL-12 and IL-10 (P < 0.05) were significantly increased in the colon tissues of the rats with UC. Illumina Miseq sequence analysis showed that in UC rats, the Shannon index (P < 0.05) ACE (P < 0.01)and Chao (P < 0.05) index for the diversity of intestinal flora both decreased with a significantly increased abundance of Enterobacteriaceae (P < 0.01) and a lowered abundance of Burkholderiaceae (P < 0.05). Compared with the UC rats, the rats treated with E. faecium QH06 showed obvious body weight gain (P < 0.05), lessened colon injuries, lowered pathological score of the colon tissue (P < 0.05), decreased protein expressions of IFN- γ, IL- 12, and TLR2 and mRNA expressions of IFN- γ and IL-12 (P < 0.01 or 0.05), and increased protein expressions of IL- 4 (P < 0.05). The Shannon index ACE (P < 0.05) and Chao (P < 0.05) index of intestinal microflora were significantly increased, the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae was lowered and that of Burkholderiaceae and Rikenellaceae was increased in E.faecium QH06- treated rats (P < 0.01 or 0.05). Correlation analysis showed that IFN-γ was positively correlated with the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae, and IFN-γ was negatively correlated with the abundance of Prevotellaceae, Desulfovibrionaceae, norank_o_Mollicutes_RF39 and Clostridiales_vadinBB60_group; TLR2 was negatively correlated with Clostridiales_vadinBB60_group, norank_o_Mollicutes_RF39 and Prevotellaceae.@*CONCLUSION@#E.faecium QH06 can alleviate TNBS-induced colonic mucosal injury in rats, and its effect is mediated possibly by increasing the abundance of SCFA-producing bacteria such as Prevotellaceae and inhibiting abnormal immune responses mediated by TLR2.

ABSTRACT

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of common environmental pollutants that pose threats to human health. In this study, a mesophilic bacterial strain CFP312 (grown at 15-37 °C, optimal at 30 °C) was isolated from PAHs-contaminated soil samples. It was identified as Moraxella sp. by morphological observation, physiological and biochemical test, and 16S rRNA gene phylogeny analysis. This is the first reported PAHs degrading strains in Moraxella. Degradation analysis showed that 84% and 90% of the loaded phenanthrene (400 mg/L) were degraded within 48 h and 60 h, and the degradation rates reached 1.21 and 1.29 mg/(L·h), respectively. During the degradation of phenanthrene, phenanthrene-3,4-dihydrodiol was detected as an intermediate. Based on this, it was proposed that double oxygenation at the positions 3 and 4 of phenanthrene was the first step of biodegradation. Adaptability of strain CFP312 to different enhanced phenanthrene-degradation systems was tested in aqueous-organic system, micellar aqueous system, and cloud point system. Strain CFP312 showed good adaptability to different systems. In addition, the bacterium can rapidly degrade the phenanthrene in contaminated soil in slurry-aqueous system, indicating great potential in environmental remediation.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics of patients suffering from plastic bronchitis (PB) caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) and explore its risk factors as well. Methods:A retrospective analysis on clinical and laboratory data of PB children caused by MP and treated in Department of Respiratory in Children′s Hospital of Soochow University from January 2011 to December 2017, compared with MP pneumonia(MPP) children without PB in the same period.Meanwhile, Logistic regression analysis was performed. Results:Among the 306 MPP children, there were 50 cases in the PB group and 256 cases in the non-PB group.Compared with children in the non-PB group, children in PB group were higher in terms of age [(82.74±35.17)months vs.(66.63±35.67) months], percentage of neutrophils (0.705 8±0.139 1 vs.0.605 7±0.162 6), C reactive protein(CRP) [17.4(10.21, 42.86) mg/L vs.11.43(4.55, 23.66) mg/L], D-dimer(DD) [1 071 (279.5, 2 386.5) μg/L vs.523 (233, 1 099.5) μg/L], lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) [491.1 (342.3, 607.4) U/L vs.394.9 (319.1, 512.8) U/L], erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)[25.0 (17.0, 36.0) mm/1 h vs.15.5(9.0, 28.0) mm/1 h], aspartate aminotranferase(AST) [33.5(26.1, 49.3) U/L vs.29.2(24.0, 37.2) U/L], alanine aminotransferase (ALT) [19.1(11.45, 31.50) U/L vs.13.6 (10.3, 23.15) U/L], IgA [1.46(0.98, 2.12) mg/L vs.1.15 (0.64, 1.60) mg/L], CD3 -CD (16+56)+ (0.155 0±0.088 6 vs.0.120 2±0.071 5), allergy history [44.0%(22/50 cases) vs.25.8%(65/256 cases)], mixed infection [38.0% (19/50 cases) vs.24.6%(63/256 cases)], and microscopic mucosal erosion [10.0%(5/50 cases) vs.2.3%(6/256 cases)] (all P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis displayed that allergy history ( OR= 5.604, 95% CI: 1.937-16.216), age ( OR = 3.142, 95% CI: 1.425-6.929), percentage of neutrophils ( OR=2.387, 95% CI: 1.088-5.238), CRP ( OR=3.959, 95% CI: 1.072-14.662), and DD ( OR=7.824, 95% CI: 2.824-21.673) were independent risk factors for PB caused by MP infection (all P<0.05). The cut-off values of age, percentage of neutrophils, CRP, and DD were 64 months, 0.70, 35 mg/L, and 2 000 μg/L. Conclusions:Children with PB caused by MP often develop in older and allergic children who have stronger inflammatory reactions, immune disorders, and hyperfibrinolysis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the relationship between cognitive ability and plasma monoamine neurotransmitters in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.Methods:The clinical data of 31 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia from October 2018 to April 2019 in Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 20 cases were in consolidation or intensive treatment stage after complete remission (treatment stage group), and 11 cases were in complete remission and drug withdrawal after treatment (withdrawal group). The plasma levels of dopamine (DA), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) were measured, the cognitive function was measured by continuous performance test (CPT) and Stroop test, and the results were compared with those of 20 healthy children (healthy control group).Results:There were no statistical differences in plasma DA and 5-HIAA among 3 groups ( P>0.05). The 5-HT in treatment stage group was significantly lower than that in healthy control group: 1 769.69 (912.86, 2 812.56) ng/L vs. 3 085.29 (2 191.79, 5 310.13) ng/L, and there was statistical difference ( P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in 5-HT between withdrawal group and healthy control group ( P>0.05). CPT results showed that there was no statistical difference in the number of errors among 3 groups ( P>0.05); the correct number in treatment stage group and withdrawal group was significantly less than that in healthy control group: (28 ± 12) and (33 ± 11) pieces vs. (43 ± 10) pieces, the missed number was significantly higher than that in healthy control group: (53 ± 14) and (52 ± 13) pieces vs. (39 ± 14) pieces, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05). Stroop test results showed that, there was no statistical difference in word-color consistency test among 3 groups ( P>0.05); in word-color contradiction test, the correct number in treatment stage group and withdrawal group was significantly less than that in healthy control group, the number of errors and missed were significantly more than those in healthy control group, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05); in word color irrelevance test, there was no statistical difference in the number of errors among 3 groups ( P<0.05); the correct number in treatment stage group and withdrawal group was significantly less than that in healthy control group, the number of missed errors in withdrawal group was significantly more than that in healthy control group, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05). The correlation analysis results showed that plasma DA was negatively correlated with the number of errors in Stroop word-color consistency test, and positively correlated with the number of errors in Stroop irrelevance test ( P<0.05); 5-HIAA was negatively correlated with the correct numbers in CPT test and error number in Stroop consistency test ( P<0.05 or<0.01); 5-HT was positively correlated with the correct number in the word-color contradiction test ( P<0.05) in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Conclusions:Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia could have continuous and selective attention injury, after being diagnosed with leukemia, the level of 5-HT in plasma monoamine neurotransmitter is lower than that in healthy children. The change of attention may be related to the change of monoamine neurotransmitter.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveThe effect of Rhein on myocardial cell injury and its possible mechanism of action remains unknown. This study aims to explore the effect and mechanism of rhein on cardiomyocyte injury induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).MethodsRat cardiomyocyte H9c2 was stimulated using H2O2 to establish the myocardial cell injury model. The experiment was divided into three groups including a control group, H2O2 induced group, and Rhein treated group. Fluorescence probe and biochemical methods were used to detect the oxidative stress level of H9c2 cells. RT-qPCR and immunofluorescence tests were adapted to determine the apoptosis of H9c2 cells. Besides, RT-qPCR was carried out to evaluate the inflammatory response of H9c2 cells. Finally, western blot assay was performed to evaluate the expression of MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.ResultsThe results of fluorescence probe showed that the expression of ROS of H9c2 cells induced by H2O2 was decreased significantly after Rhein intervention. Besides, the biochemical test showed that the expressions of GSK-Px and CAT of H9c2 cells induced by H2O2 were increased significantly after Rhein treatment. RT-qPCR data suggested that Rhein could significantly decrease the mRNA expressions of Bax, caspase-3 and caspase-9, and upregulate the mRNA expression of Bcl-2 of H9c2 cells induced by H2O2. Moreover, immunofluorescence experiments showed that Rhein could significantly inhibit the expression of caspase-3 of H9c2 cells induced with H2O2. Further, the results of RT-qPCR indicated that the mRNA expressions of IL-6, TNF-α、IL-1β and IL-1α of H9c2 cells induced by H2O2 was decreased significantly after Rhein intervention. Finally, western blot showed that Rhein can significantly inhibit the expressions of MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.ConclusionRhein can reduce the injury of cardiomyocytes induced by H2O2, which may be achieved by inhibiting the expressions of MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the efficacy,prognosis and safety of weekly paclitaxel with concurrent radiotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients with multiple liver metastases.Methods A total of 64 NPC patients with multiple liver metastases in First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University between January 2016 and January 2018 were recruited and randomly divided into experimental group (n =32) and control group (n =32) by the method of random number table.The patients in the two groups were given palliative radiotherapy with a median dose of 30 Gy.The experimental group used weekly paclitaxel (40 mg/m2) concurrent chemotherapy,cisplatin (40 mg/m2) in the control group.Paclitaxel and cisplatin were used weekly until the end of radiotherapy.The clinical efficacy and adverse effects between the two groups were compared.Results During the follow-up,1 patient was lost to follow-up in the experimental group,complete remission (CR) in 6 cases (19.4%),partial remission (PR) in 9 cases (29.0%),stable disease (SD) in 7 cases (22.6%) and progressive disease (PD) in 9 cases (29.0%);2 patients were lost to follow-up in the control group,CRin4 cases (13.4%),PR in 10 cases (33.3%),SD in9 cases (30.0%) and PD in7 cases (23.3%).There was no significant difference between the two groups (Z =-0.060,P =0.952).The effective rates of the experimental group and the control group were 48.4% (15/31) and 46.7% (14/30) respectively,and the difference was not statistically significant (/x2 =0.018,P =0.893);the tumor control rates were 71.0% (22/31) and 76.7% (23/30),with no statistically significant difference (x2 =0.256,P =0.613).The median survival time of the experimental group and the control group were 9.4 months and 8.9 months respectively,and the 1-year survival rates were 14.5% and 10.0%,with no significant difference (x2=1.136,P =0.286).Among the adverse effects,the incidence rates of allergic reaction,neurotoxicity and cardiovascular toxicity in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group [18.8% (6/32) vs.3.1% (1/32),28.1% (9/32) vs.15.6% (5/32),31.3% (10/32) vs.15.6% (5/32)],with no significant differences (x2 =2.566,P=0.109;x2 =1.463,P=0.226;x2 =2.177,P =0.140).The incidence rates of granulocyte decline,platelet decline,red blood cell decline,and impaired liver and kidney function in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group [56.3% (18/32) vs.68.8% (22/32),12.5% (4/32) vs.21.9% (7/32),15.6% (5/32) vs.25.0% (8/32),21.9% (7/32) vs.28.1% (9/32)],with no significant differences (x2 =1.067,P=0.302;x2 =0.988,P =0.320;x2 =0.868,P =0.351;x2 =0.333,P =0.564).The incidence rates of nausea and vomiting was lower than that in the control group [(40.6% (13/32) vs.78.1% (25/32)],with a significant difference (x2 =9.328,P =0.002).Conclusion Weekly paclitaxel with concurrent radiotherapy has equivalent efficacy to cisplatin and the adverse effects can be tolerated.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the prevalence of allergic diseases in children aged 0-24 months in the Wuhu urban area of Anhui Province and risk factors for allergic diseases.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Cluster random sampling was performed to select 600 children aged 0-24 months and their mothers from the Wuhu urban area, and a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect the data of disease history, family history, mothers' conditions during pregnancy, and child-rearing situation. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed for such data.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Among the 597 children included in the analysis, 56 (9.4%) were diagnosed with allergic diseases in the past. The univariate analysis showed that the age, use of antipyretic and analgesic drugs, a history of allergy in the father or grandparents, and the consumption of fish, shrimps, crabs, and shellfish during pregnancy were significantly associated with past allergic diseases (P<0.05). The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the age and a history of allergy in the father or grandparents were positively associated with past allergic diseases (OR=4.0-4.9, 2.7, and 2.4 respectively; P<0.05), while frequent consumption of fish, shrimps, crabs, and shellfish during pregnancy was negatively associated with past allergic diseases (OR=0.3; P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>A family history of allergy is an independent risk factor for allergic diseases in children aged 0-24 months in the Wuhu urban area of Anhui Province, while frequent consumption of fish, shrimps, crabs, and shellfish during pregnancy is a protective factor.</p>

Objective@#To evaluate the correlation between type Ⅰ allergic reaction and pathogenesis of Meniere′s disease.@*Methods@#A total of 35 (10 male vs. 25 female) patients aged between 21-66 years diagnosed with Meniere′s disease were recruited to this study, mean age of them was (47.3±13.6) years. The control group consisted of 15 inpatients (5 male vs. 10 female) with pharyngolaryngeal diseases but without otologic and rhinologic abnormity, mean age was 45.4±12.8 years. Allergic prevalence, serous total immunoglobulin E( tIgE ) levels, serous specific immunoglobulin E( sIgE ) levels and subtypes of T lymphocytes were measured and compared in patients with Meniere′s disease and the control group. Severity of vertigo, tinnitus and sensation of fullness were compared between Meniere′s disease patients with or without allergy.@*Results@#Allergic prevalence were significantly different (Pearson chi-square 5.832, P<0.05) between patients with Meniere′s disease and the control group(57.1% vs. 20.0%). Patients with Meniere′s disease report higher level of serous tIgE compared with controls, the difference is statistically significant (Z=168.000, P<0.05). However, positive rates of sIgE of food allergens and inhalant allergens were not significantly different between patients with Meniere′s disease and the control group. Scores of vertiginous severity, dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) and tinnitus handicap inventory (THI) were significantly different between Meniere′s disease patients with or without allergy (P<0.05). Treg and Treg/Th17 levels (Z=26.000) were much higher in Meniere′s disease patients with allergy than in the controls(P<0.05).@*Conclusions@#Patients with Meniere′s disease report higher rate of allergy than the control group. Type Ⅰ allergic reaction is thought to be one of the possible reasons that may induce endolymphatic hydrops and lead to Meniere′s disease.

OBJECTIVE:To study the prevention and treatment effect and its mechanism of Yinyanjing lotion on allergic con-tact dermatitis(ACD)in rats. METHODS:60 rats were randomly divided into blank control group,model control group,positive control group(dexamethasone)and Yinyanjing lotion high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups(respectively given 2-fold concen-trated solution,1-fold concentrated solution and original solution),10 in each group. Except for blank control group,rats in other groups smeared dinitrochlorobenzene in the abdomen and back(2 cm×2 cm)to induce ACD model. From the 9th of modeling,rats in each administration group were smeared 100 μL of related drugs in the back,and rats in blank control group and model control group smeared 100 μL of purified water,3 times a day,for 10 d. After administration,skin allergic reaction was scored and skin swelling degree was determined. HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes of skin. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent method was used to detect the contents of interleukin-2 (IL-2),IL-4,IL-6 and interferon γ(IFN-γ) in serum. RESULTS:Com-pared with blank control group,allergic reaction scores and skin swelling degree in model control group were significantly in-creased (P<0.01). Electron microscopy showed epidermal scab necrosis,dermal layer damage,hair follicle necrosis. Contents of IL-2,IL-4,IFN-γ in serum were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01);IL-6 content was slightly increased (P>0.05). Compared with model control group,except that the skin swelling degree,IL-4 content in serum in Yinyanjing lotion low-dose group and IL-6 content in serum in each administration group were not significantly improved,other indexes were significantly im-proved(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Yinyanjing lotion has certain prevention and treatment effects on ACD in rats,the mechanism may be associated with reducing the contents of IL-2,IL-4,IFN-γin serum.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics and pathological features of Meckel's diverticulum(MD) in children.Methods 244 MD cases admitted between January 2010 and December 2014 were retropectively analyzed.Results In fifty patients,MD was an incidental finding at laparotomy or laparoscopy for unrelated entities.Among the remaining 194 symptomatic patients,there were 76 patients presenting GI bleeding,forty eight patients were identified with perforated Meckel's diverticulum,thirty six patients suffered from intestinal obstruction.34 patients had MD caused severe complications such as volvulus and intestinal necrosis,diverticular perforation and peritonitis.61 out of 76 GI bleeding patients underwent a 99mTc scan,and positive tracer was found in 42 patients.Among the 19 negative 99mTc scan patients,8 received capsule endoscopy and only 3 patients were suspected of diverticulum.242 patients underwent one stage resection of the diverticulum.Histology revealed ectopic gastric mucosa or ectopic pancreatic tissue in 128 patients.One patient died of volvulus and intestinal necrosis postoperatively,and two suffered from adhesive intestinal obstruction during one to five year's follow up.Conclusions It is necessary to maintain a high suspicion of MD in the pediatric age group with symptoms of abdominal pain,gastrointestinal hemorrhage or intestinal obstruction.Ectopic mucosa assumes the ultimate responsibility for major complications of MD.

ABSTRACT

In the present study, two new compounds from Ipomoea cairica were identified and demonstrated to have α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. They were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel and sephadex LH-20 and finally purified by prep-HPLC, with their structures being elucidated by spectroscopic methods, such as 1D- and 2D-NMR and HR-TOF-MS, and chemical methods. Compounds 1 and 2, named cairicoside A and cairicoside B, were evaluated for α-glucosidase inhibitory activity by the MTT method, with the IC50 values being 25.3 ± 1.6 and 28.5 ± 3.3 μmol·L(-1), respectively.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prevalence, etiology, rehabilitation demands and service condition of hearing disorders based on the whole population in Jilin Province, China. Methods Using the probability proportion to size (PPS) sampling, 9246 (93.3%) out of 9909 residents sampled form 36 counties were targeted for investigation from August, 2014 to January, 2015, followed the WHO Ear and Hearing Disorders Survey Protocol. The hearing loss and disability were classified as WHO recommended and Classification and Grading Criteria of Disability (GB/T 26341-2010). Results The standardized prevalence of hearing loss and disability was 16.41%and 4.78%, re-spectively. Age, sex, residence, occupation and marriage status, education level and household income were significantly associated with hearing loss prevalence, while nationality was not. The main etiologies included non-infectious disease (47.33%), ear disease (14.17%), un-known causation (13.89%), and noise (8.59%). Among all people with hearing loss, those who accepted intervention service accounted for 11.02%. Among all people with hearing disability, those who used hearing aids accounted for 5.58%, and 0.67%used artificial cochlea. Con-clusion Demographics and socioeconomic factors are significantly associated with the prevalence of hearing loss. The main etiology con-tains non-infectious disease, ear disease and noise. Both the rate of service utilization among people with hearing loss and the rate of adopt-ing hearing aids among people with hearing disability are low. It is needed to do more in prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment.

Objective TolearnthehealthstatusofemptynesterswithdiabetesinthemountainssouthwestofZhejiangand toexploretheinfluencingfactors.Methods Usingthemethodofstratified-random-clustersampling,78emptynesters with diabetes and 1 56 non -empty nesters with diabetes who come from five streets and 1 0 towns of 30 community (or village)were selected and investigated by questionnaire and physical examination were conducted.Univariate analysis were conducted to compare the differences about lifestyle,biochemical indicators and health status between the two groups and multivariateunconditionallogisticregressionanalysiswereconductedtoanalyzetheinfluencingfactors.Results The prevalence of hypertension of empty nest group was 70.51%,and the prevalence of hypertension of non-empty nest group was 58.97%.Fasting blood glucose level of empty nest group was 9.39 ±5.73 mmol/L,higher than that of the non-empty nest group(P<0.05 ).There was significant difference between the two groups in other indicators,such as drinking rate,high -salt diet rate,obesity rate,triglyceride levels,regular exercise rate,vegetables/fruits ≥4 days/week proportion,fish/meat≥4 days/week,awareness of their own blood pressure and blood sugar awareness (P<0.05).After adjustment for age,the obesity rate,abnormal rate of triglycerides,fish/meat(≥4 days/week)intake,regular exercise rate,blood pressure and blood sugar awareness rate were lower among non-empty nesters with diabetes,and overweight rate,systolic blood pressure abnormal rate,fasting glucose ratio,alcohol and high salt diet were higher in empty nest group patientswithdiabetes.Conclusion Emptynesterswithdiabeteshavearelativelyhighproportionoflackofexercise, inadequate nutrition intake,alcohol consumption,high-salt diet and lack of health knowledge and other unhealthy factors. The community health services and individual guidance for the empty nesters should be strengthened to improve the health status of empty nesters with diabetes.
